Camrose Police investigate crypto fraud

A person reported being the victim of a crypto currency fraud. The subject of the fraud (reporting person) indicated they invested an initial $80,000 and when they attempted to withdraw from the investment they were told they would have to pay an additional $40,000 to access any funds.  When the reporting person refused the alleged fraudsters became verbally aggressive.

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle equipment concerns (use of dealer licence plates.) Police determined the vehicle, which was recently purchased by the operator, had not been properly insured and registered as per requirements after purchase. The operator was charged, the dealer licence plate was seized and the vehicle was towed.

During November 8-14, 2025, Camrose Police responded to various incidents including multiple vehicle thefts, reports of a break-in, and an attempted fraud involving a counterfeit watch. An assault occurred during an attempted apartment entry. Police also dealt with an insecure load, abandoned property, and reported stolen fuel from a parked vehicle.

From November 1-7, 2025, Camrose Police handled various incidents including a $2,500 scam, disturbances at a hotel, stolen merchandise, vehicle break-ins, siphoned gas, and theft from a retail store. Police executed a search warrant resulting in the seizure of drugs and cash, leading to one arrest for trafficking.
