Elizabeth Chambers of Brownfield, Peighton Hampshire of Sedgewick, and Owen Johnson of Killam will be representing Zone 4 at the Alberta Winter Games, where they will compete in the Slalom events. The three are all members of the Valley Alpine Ski Club, from Valley Ski Hill in Alliance. The games are taking place Feb. 13 through 15 in the Lakeland Region, where Bonnyville, Cold Lake, and Glendon will be co-hosting different events.

Local skiers heading to Alberta Winter Games

Peighton Hampshire, Owen Johnson, and Elizabeth Chambers from the Valley Alpine Ski Club have qualified for the Alberta Winter Games in Alpine Skiing, alongside their coaches. Competing in Slalom events, they are part of a returning race team that trains intensively. The games, hosted in February, are a significant opportunity for young athletes.

Road Rage Incident in Camrose

A person reported an incident of road rage as they were entering Camrose. The operator of the subject vehicle stopped their vehicle at the red light on 73 Street, got out of their vehicle and retrieved a sledgehammer from the back of their vehicle allegedly brandishing it at the person reporting. Police located and stopped the subject vehicle. The operator of the subject vehicle was arrested for assault with a weapon. This matter is still under investigation.

Camrose Police investigate crypto fraud

A person reported being the victim of a crypto currency fraud. The subject of the fraud (reporting person) indicated they invested an initial $80,000 and when they attempted to withdraw from the investment they were told they would have to pay an additional $40,000 to access any funds.  When the reporting person refused the alleged fraudsters became verbally aggressive.
