Notable Incidents

September 16

Breach of Peace and Resisting Arrest

Police responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male refusing to leave a residence after being directed to do so by the homeowner. Officers provided the male with the option to leave voluntarily or be taken into custody; however, he remained uncooperative. When officers attempted to arrest the male for breach of the peace, he became combative and resisted arrest. The male was charged with resisting arrest and transported to Camrose Police Service cells where he was later released on an Appearance Notice once sober.

Vandalism Investigation

Overnight a complaint was received of vandalism and trespassing at a residence in the 5000 block of 58 Street. The homeowner reported damage to property and an unknown person entering their backyard.

Intoxicated Male Assisted Home

Police responded to a report of an unknown male ringing a doorbell and then remaining on the front porch of a residence in the area of Marler Drive. Officers located and identified the 19-year-old male and determined he was intoxicated and unable to find his way home. Police transported him safely to his residence and left him in the care of an adult relative.

September 17

Structure Fire

Police responded to multiple reports of a structure fire on Montcalm Avenue. Officers assisted with evacuating nearby residents while members of Camrose Fire Department worked to extinguish a fire located in a residential garage. No injuries were reported.

September 18

Puppy Purchase Scam

A resident reported losing $1,000 after attempting to purchase a puppy through an online advertisement. After payment was made, the victim was asked to send an additional $500 for delivery. Police advised the complainant to cease communication with the suspect.

Fraud Prevention Reminder: Residents are encouraged to exercise caution when making online purchases and to verify the legitimacy of sellers before sending money.

Child Safely Reunited with Parent

Police responded to a report of a very young child found alone in the area of the 6300 block of 43 Avenue. Officers quickly identified and located the child’s mother, who was notified and safely reunited with the child.

Trespass Notices Issued

Police responded to a report involving a male allegedly uttering threats. Officers located and identified the 28-year-old male, issued a warning, and served him with a Trespass Notice prohibiting him from returning to the location.

In a separate incident, police issued a Trespass Notice to a 39-year-old female following complaints of ongoing disturbances at a residence in the 5200 block of 50 Avenue.

Immediate Roadside Sanctions and Seatbelt Offences

At approximately 4:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop and administered a Mandatory Alcohol Screening test to the driver. The 18-year-old Graduated Driver Licence holder failed the screening test and was issued an Immediate Roadside Sanction. The driver further received violation tickets for traffic offences.

September 19

Breach of Undertaking

At approximately 12:40 a.m. police received a report of an intoxicated youth breaching a no-alcohol condition of an Undertaking. Police attended and transported the youth subject to Camrose Police Service cells to be released on an Appearance Notice once sober.

September 20

Motor Vehicle Collision

At approximately 12:30 p.m. police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 40 Street and 49 Avenue. Emergency Medical Services attended; however, no injuries were reported. Both vehicles required towing from the scene.

E-Bike Education

Police conducted a traffic stop involving an electric bicycle that was being operated without pedals. Officers provided education regarding Alberta’s e-bike regulations and issued a verbal warning.

Traffic Enforcement Results in Multiple Charges

During a traffic stop involving a vehicle displaying mismatched licence plates, police determined the 29-year-old driver did not have valid insurance, registration, or proof of ownership. The driver was issued multiple violation tickets. Officers also discovered the 38-year-old passenger was wanted on an endorsed warrant related to a prior insurance offence. The warrant was executed, and the vehicle was towed.

September 21

Damage to Property Under Investigation

Police are investigating a complaint involving damage to property at a local not-for-profit organization. The incident was reported and remains under investigation.

September 22

Assault with weapon

After a complaint of an assault and a thorough investigation a 41-year-old female was arrested for assault with a weapon and released on an order with conditions after a Judicial Interim Release.

Two-vehicle collision

At approximately 7:45 p.m. police responded to several reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 68 Street and 48 Avenue. Police determined that a 46-year-old male traveling south made an unsafe left turn in front of another vehicle traveling northbound. No injuries were reported. Camrose Fire Department attended to assist with clearing the scene. The male subject was charged. Both vehicles were towed.

September 23

Canada-Wide Driving Prohibition

At approximately 9:40 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Checks on the 38-year-old male driver determined he was subject to a Canada-wide driving prohibition. The male was arrested for Operating a Conveyance While Prohibited and later released on an Appearance Notice. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

September 24

Scam

Police received a report from a person who was scammed out of approximately $1,400 after receiving a text message regarding a suspicious transaction involving an online payment service. The victim was provided information on fraud prevention and online safety.

September 25

Fraud Investigation

Police assisted in locating and arresting a 37-year-old male in relation to a Fraud Under $5,000 investigation. The male was released on an Undertaking and was also issued violation tickets for operating without a business license. The investigation remains ongoing.

Vehicle Window Smashed

A complainant reported that the driver-side window of their vehicle had been smashed while the vehicle was parked in the 5600 block of 47 Avenue. The matter remains under investigation.

Arrests on Outstanding Warrants

Police arrested a 34-year-old male and a 32-year-old female on outstanding warrants. The male was held in custody and later released following a Judicial Interim Release hearing. The female was released on an Undertaking with conditions.

Assault and Mischief

At approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a complaint of an assault. The victim reported being assaulted by a male known to them and advised that the male had also tampered with their vehicle. Police located and arrested the 25-year-old suspect. The male was charged with Assault and Mischief and later released on court-imposed conditions.

September 26

Breach

During a traffic stop, police conducted checks on a 31-year-old male passenger and a 24-year-old female passenger. Both individuals were found to be bound by no-contact conditions prohibiting communication with one another. They were arrested and transported to Camrose Police Service cells before being released on Appearance Notices.

Theft From Retail Business

Police responded to a report of a theft from a local retail business involving two male suspects. One male suspect was located nearby and arrested. He was transported to Camrose Police Service cells where he was charged with Theft and Breach of Probation before being released on an Undertaking.

Suspension

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The youth male driver was subjected to a Mandatory Alcohol Screening demand and subsequently received an administrative novice driver suspension. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for failing to obey a traffic control device. The vehicle was towed.

September 27

BB Gun

Police responded after a citizen located what appeared to be a handgun near a recreational facility. Officers attended and determined the item was a loaded BB gun. The BB gun was seized and destroyed.

Family Dispute

Police responded to a 911 complaint involving a verbal dispute between family members. Officers attended and determined the matter involved a 19-year-old male and a 53-year-old female. Advice was provided and no charges were laid.

September 28

Warrants Executed During Traffic Stop

At approximately 11:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop and determined the 49-year-old female driver was wanted on a fraud-related warrant from Whitecourt, Alberta. The male was issued violation tickets and later released on an Undertaking.

Speeding

At approximately 2:45 p.m., police responded to a complaint of a vehicle speeding through a back alley. Officers located the vehicle, which was unoccupied upon arrival. Following the investigation, the 45-year-old registered owner was issued a violation ticket.

Resist Arrest

At approximately 5:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance outside a residence in the 5000 block of 44 Street. Officers located a 19-year-old male who became confrontational and resisted arrest. The male was transported to Camrose Police Service cells and later released on an Appearance Notice for Resisting Arrest and Disobeying a Court Order.

September 29

Verbal Disagreement

At approximately 6:15 a.m., police responded to a 911 call requesting assistance at the North Side Trailer Park. Officers attended and determined a verbal disagreement had occurred between the complainant and two individuals staying at the residence. Police mediated the situation and advised all parties to remain separated.

No Insurance and Registration

During patrol, officers observed an unregistered vehicle being operated in the area of 50 Avenue and the 5400 block. A traffic stop was conducted, and the 29-year-old male driver was unable to provide valid proof of insurance or registration. The driver was issued violation tickets and the vehicle was towed.

Dangerous Operation of Dirtbike

At approximately 9:45 p.m., police observed a dirtbike commit a dangerous traffic violation while travelling northbound on 39 Street. Officers attempted a traffic stop; however, the operator failed to stop and fled the area. Despite extensive patrols, the dirtbike was not located. The matter remains under investigation.

Assault

At approximately 2:30 a.m., police received a report of an assault involving individuals known to one another. Officers attended a residence in the 4600 block of 48 Street and arrested a 44-year-old female. The suspect was charged with Assault and Assault with a Weapon. The female was later released from custody on several conditions.

September 30

Assist in removing unwanted persons

Police responded to a request from a local hotel to assist in having two unwanted males removed from the property. Police attended and spoke with the two male subjects requesting them to leave and not return to the property.

Theft

Police issued trespass notices to an 18-year-old male and a youth after they were caught stealing from a local retail business. Parents were notified of the incident.

Trespass

At approximately 3:00 a.m. police responded to a report of three individuals loitering in the laundry room of an apartment building. Police located the three subjects in the laundry room and issued all three with trespass notices to the building then escorted them off the property.
