Daysland Wellness Jamboree attracts huge crowd

The Daysland Wellness Jamboree, the first of its kind anywhere in the Flagstaff Region, was an unqualified success last Friday, July 24 at Gazebo Park in Daysland.

Vanessa from Joyful Movement Studio held a chair yoga class.

The final crowd was estimated to be well over 500, and included families and seniors alike. Celebrating alongside were the physicians from the Daysland Medical Clinic and United Medical Clinic, and Daysland Pharmacy’s Mark and MJ Badry.

There was an amazing variety of food, from barbecued chicken to pizza to smokies to doughnuts to popcorn, cotton candy, and ice cream, and in most cases, the physicians were all taking a turn at the barbecue or serving tables.

Dr. Henry Orewa took the microphone during the Daysland Wellness Jamboree to organize the group games planned for the event.

There were also many games for the kids, including an extra long inflatable mini-obstacle course, a bubble gun, and bumper balls as well as many smaller games. There was a session of chair yoga, and live music from members of the band Yammers.

Vanessa from Joyful Movement Studio held a chair yoga class with many participants in the crowd. The doctors led a group dance before starting the team games to do a variety of fun activities. Each doctor represented a different team by colour of wristband, and it was a recipe for family and community building.

Participants chose their teams by wristband colour.

As organizers hoped, the Wellness Jamboree certainly succeeded in bringing people of the region together in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
