RCMP investigate fatal collision north of Sedgewick

On the morning of Saturday, August 10 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Killam RCMP was dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle collision.

Members arrived on scene, approximately one mile north of Sedgewick on Range Road 124, and located a 49-year-old resident of Leduc, Alberta, deceased.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the Medical Examiner has ordered an autopsy.

Next of kin notification has been completed by Edmonton Police Service.

Referrals to Flagstaff Victim Services have been made for the complainant and next of kin.

Claims were made on social media on the weekend that incorrect information on the identity of the driver had been posted online, also potentially before police were able to notify next of kin.
