Killam Cyclones Swim Club members travelled to Lacombe over the weekend, where 218 swimmers from nine different clubs participated in the summer swimming regional finals.
The Cyclones had 20 swimmers who competed in 88 events on the weekend with some great results.
The top two swimmers in each event move on from regionals to provincials.
Thirteen Cyclones club members will be heading off to compete at Provincials this coming weekend, at the Kinsmen Pool in Edmonton.
They’ll be competing in many events, including relay in both freestyle and medley. Medley is where each team member does one of the four main strokes: back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, and crawl.
The Cyclones had four swimmers make the regional relay teams this season, which are the top four swimmers in each age category, an amazing accomplishment for such a small club.
Because of the dedication of the team to going to meets and placing well at the nine swim meets throughout the season, Killam Cyclones won the Top Overall Small Club Award for 2024.
The swimmers and volunteers extended their thanks to all the parents for the extra effort they put in on the weekends and evenings to have made this season successful.
“We are still holding out hope for a few more wildcard entries to provincials for those kids that came in third place,” says Derek Kroetsch, club volunteer.
Congratulations to the club on such a successful regular season.
