The Battle River School Division (BRSD) Board of Trustees recently approved the Division’s 2025-28 Capital Plan.
The plan will now be submitted to Alberta Education for consideration by the Province, which is a requirement by the Division and by Alberta Education.
Highlights of BRSD’s capital plan include requests for a replacement of the CW Sears K-4 School in Tofield, as well as modernization and partial replacement of the Charlie Killam Grades 6-8 School in Camrose, as well as a new middle school for Camrose.
It also includes modernization of the Hay Lakes Grades 1-12 school.
The Division’s ‘longer-term plan’ includes modernization at the Sparling School in Camrose, addition and modernization at the Jack Stuart School in Camrose, and modernization at the Round Hill School.
“Each year, BRSD assesses capital needs throughout its buildings and prioritizes projects based on drivers outlined in the School Capital Manual,” said the Division in a release.
“Some of the drivers that are helpful in prioritizing capital project requests are building conditions, enrolment, programming, and health and safety.”
