Camrose Police Report for the period from February 1 – 14, 2026
Collision
Police responded to a one vehicle collision at 53 Street and 48 Avenue, involving a vehicle with a stop sign, (icy road conditions). City of Camrose Public Works department were contacted.
Refuse Mandatory Alcohol Screening test
Police observed a vehicle being operated on the wrong side of the roadway. Police conducted a vehicle stop. The operator of the vehicle refused a Mandatory Alcohol Screening test and received an Immediate Roadside sanction. The vehicle was seized and towed.
Drug arrest
On February 1, 2026 members of Camrose Police Service stopped a vehicle in the east end of Camrose for conducting an illegal U-turn.
The operator of the vehicle, identified as Crystal Luider, from Hanna, was issued a violation ticket. Checks revealed that Luider had active charges for trafficking narcotics.
The front male passenger of the vehicle refused to identify himself, police however, noted the male had a large spider tattoo on his left hand.
Further checks by police to determine the identity of the male passenger resulted in a positive identification as Kenneth Dustin Powell from Drumheller. It was also determined Powell had a lengthy criminal record for trafficking narcotics, with an outstanding warrant for that activity, and was subsequently arrested.
A search of his person revealed a large quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Luider was arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and a search of the vehicle revealed further drugs and drug paraphernalia.
In total, 29 grams of crack cocaine, 22 grams of methamphetamine, 18.5 grams of fentanyl, a scale, wrappers, cellphone and cash were seized. Powell was charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Proceeds and Luider was charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Both Luider and Powell were unable to meet court set bail and were remanded.
Collision
Police attended a collision on 68 Street and 4700 Block. The vehicle travelling south on 68 Street was struck by another vehicle. The operator of the other vehicle was charged.
Assault
A person reported being assaulted by a female subject. Police located and arrested and charged the female subject with assault
Collision
Police attended a collision at 65 Street and 4300 Block. The operator of a vehicle swerved to avoid a collision and struck a light pole causing significant damage to the vehicle and causing a power outage. Fortis attended. This matter is still under investigation.
Theft
An employee of a local restaurant reported a male had entered the restaurant and taken items. Police located and charged the male suspect.
Possible fraud
An employee of a local business reported a male subject suspected of using a stolen debit card. Police were able to locate and identify the suspect and the matter remains under investigation.
Erratic driving
Police responded to the are of Creekview and 50 Street after receiving reports of multiple vehicles driving erratically. Members located and stopped the vehicles. Three drivers were issued tickets for open alcohol, possession of illegal (untaxed) cigarettes and various vehicle equipment violations.
Stolen documents
A person reported their vehicle had been entered unlawfully while parked in a local retail parking lot. The vehicle’s registration and insurance documents were stolen.
Stolen tires and rims
A person reported two tires and rims were stolen from the box of their truck, at 48 Avenue and 54 Street.
Counterfeit bill
A representative from a local retail store reported receiving a counterfeit $50 bill.
Hit and run
Police received a report of a hit and run involving a vehicle colliding with a parked vehicle at 50 Avenue and 68 Street. Police located the subject vehicle. The operator of the vehicle failed a Mandatory Alcohol Screening test and was charged with an Immediate Roadside Sanction.
Damage to vehicle
Police responded to the 4300 block of 65 Street after receiving a report of a vehicle with a damaged windshield and driver’s-side window. Officers attended the scene and confirmed the damage. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
Theft
The representative of a local retail business reported a known male suspect had stolen a large quantity of product from the business. This matter is still under investigation.
Scam
A person reported being scammed by telephone out of $900 by someone claiming to be with a telephone provider.
Unregistered vehicle
Police conducted a traffic stop for an unregistered vehicle. The operator of the vehicle also had no insurance and was arrested on a warrant.
Outstanding warrant
Police observed and arrested a suspect with an outstanding warrant. The suspect was also charged with possession of illegal cigarettes (not marked for taxes.)
False identification
Staff at St. Mary’s Hospital reported a male in the emergency room providing inconsistent identification information. Police attended and located the individual, who then provided the officers with false identification. His true identity was later confirmed and he was found to be in possession of identity documents belonging to another person. The male was charged in relation to the offences.
Erratic driving
A representative of a local retail business reported a male subject driving erratically. Police located the subject vehicle. The operator of the vehicle was charged for not having insurance and a valid driver’ licence
Pointing firearm
Police responded to the downtown area for a report of a road rage incident. The investigation determined that a male driver had confronted another motorist and brandished a firearm. The suspect vehicle was later located, and police conducted a high-risk traffic stop. The driver and passenger were arrested, and a search of the vehicle recovered a firearm, later confirmed to be imitation, along with additional weapons. The driver was consequently charged in relation to the incident.
Unregistered and uninsured
Police conducted a stop on an unregistered vehicle. The operator and registered owner of the vehicle was charged with no registration and no insurance.
Causing concerns
A person reported a male subject causing concerns at a local bar, including punching another person causing injury. Bar staff detained the male subject until police arrived. The male subject was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.
