Sabres lose first two rounds to Provost Blades

Game one of the BRHL semi-final between first place Provost Blades and fourth place Sedgewick Sabres took place on Friday, Feb. 17 in Provost.

    The Blades won by a score of 5-1. Shots on goal were 42-30 in favour of the Blades. Getting the single goal for Sedgewick was Aaron Heck from Kelvin Tuftin and Brandon Heck.

    Game two took place on Saturday, Feb. 18 in Sedgewick. The Sabres lost in double overtime to the Blades by a score of 6-5.

    Provost opened the scoring in the first with a goal by Shaun Rose. The Blades added another marker on the power-play from Mike Shirley at the midway mark of the first.

    Sabres’ captain Kelvin Tuftin scored just under the halfway mark in the period assisted by Brandon Heck and Scott Effert to make the score 2-1 for the Blades after the first.

    Blade Wes Ganser scored on the power-play early in the second followed by another goal for the visitors from Adam Shirley. Brandon Heck scored from Kelly Sayer to bring the home team within two after the second.
