The Town of Killam discovered a potentially hazardous situation last week when it was found that local youth had been playing in a dirt pile owned by the town, and had built a tunnel into the pile.
The Town immediately knocked in the tunnel, and issued a warning to families in the community: “Parents please be aware that children have been seen digging this tunnel into the large dirt pile south of 45 Ave.
“The Town has knocked in the tunnel, but please let your children know of the dangers involved in doing this.”
The Town has installed warning tape and signage and will continue to closely monitor the area for any further activity.
