Equine fun at Forestburg Riding Arena open house

Raising awareness and a fundraiser, Saturday, April 13’s open house at the Forestburg Riding Arena was particularly fun for those who decided to bring their own horses, or those who took up the offer of a pony ride in the arena.

The Forestburg Riding Arena committee held an open house on the afternoon of Saturday, April 13, starting off with lunch, tours of the facility for visitors, vendors tables and a silent auction, and pony rides for the kids.

Organizers say they were pleased with the turnout, and hope that it results in getting the facility used by more people.

The once-arena turned riding arena has hosted a number of events since it was turned from an ice surface to dirt. The facility has been used for not just horses, but bull riding clinics, 4-H rodeo, and even cattle sales.

The pony rides on Saturday were particularly popular with the children, who enjoyed a ride as the animals were led around the arena by their two-legged handlers.
