Alberta Party candidate Kevin Smook touring the area

Kevin Smook, Alberta party candidate for the new Camrose constituency, stopped by at the Killam Library’s 80th birthday party on Saturday, March 9, where he talked with residents about the next provincial election, and what concerns they might have. He hosts a meet-and-greet in Forestburg on Saturday, March 16 from 9 to 11 am at Cedar’s Restaurant

Alberta Party Camrose candidate Kevin Smook has been touring the riding extensively, engaging with residents from the area and participating in community events, including hosting a meet-and-greet event at Cedar’s Restaurant in Forestburg this coming Saturday, March 16, from 9 to 11 am, and is hoping to schedule a similar event for Killam the following week.

On Friday, March 8, Smook was at the Killam Library where they celebrated their 80th anniversary.

“There were several residents along with Board Chair Brenda McDermott and Library Manager Barb Cox who I had the opportunity to meet,” Smook added.

On Monday, March 11, Flagstaff County council and staff played host to the R.H. Hume Bonspiel’s 58th annual. The event, named after former Camrose Mayor R. H. Hume, includes teams made up of elected officials and staff from neighbouring counties.

Hume founded the event in the ‘60s, inviting all surrounding municipalities of Camrose, and it is still being held, with hosts rotating each year. Last year it was held in Stettler.

This year’s event featured teams from Beaver County, Camrose County, Lacombe County, Leduc County, the County of Stettler, County of Wetaskiwin No. 10, and from host Flagstaff County, and was held at the Wild Rose Co-op Recreation Centre Curling Rink in Sedgewick.

Hume started the event as an opportunity to meet elected officials and staff between counties and get to know them in an informal setting.

The bonspiel wrapped up with dinner and prizes.

Speaking to Alberta Party leader Stephen Mandel’s winning court challenge, Smook said, “I truly believe the Alberta Party is the right choice to lead Alberta into the future and I am working hard to meet and hear the concerns of the residents of the Camrose constituency in my quest to become the MLA.”

Smook further added that it is time to set aside divisive politics, and instead choose a party that will lead the province in a positive way.
