Roller Derby Spring Fling held in Killam last weekend

The Highway 14 Roller Derby Association hosted their Spring Fling VI event on Saturday, May 26 at the Killam Arena.

The event brought live roller derby action as juniors, women, and mixed teams competed in different events through the afternoon.

Getting the stars through the pack garners points for each team, but isn’t easy, as blockers set up traps, bumps, and anything else they can legally get away with to keep the stars at the back.

Roller Derby has lots of refs, and with good reason, as there is always lots of action.

Those who went to the event not knowing what to expect came away with a real appreciation for the sport of roller derby and the people who take it up.

The Association’s next event is the ‘Double Whammy’ in Irma on Saturday, June 2.
