Killam revealed as one of 24 communities to get Family Care Clinics
In an announcement made June 4, Premier Alison Redford listed Killam as one of 24 communities chosen in the ‘second wave’ for new Family Care Clinics. (FCC)
“Our government made a commitment to Albertans that we would increase access to primary health care, and we are doing just that,” said Redford.
“We are working with physicians and other health care providers on how primary care evolves in the future, and part of that work is moving forward with Family Care Clinics.”
The 24 communities chosen were identified as having the greatest need for improved access to primary health care, and are considered to be ready and have the capacity to implement an FCC, Alberta Health says in their news release.
“Killam and area residents will have better access to basic primary health services close to home with the addition of a family care clinic in the community,” says Doug Griffiths, MLA Battle-River Wainwright and Municipal Affairs Minister.
