Last Wednesday during the second performance of the 2011-12 Daysarts concert series, the community took the opportunity to honour Bob Hanrahan for his long-time service to many of the community’s service groups.
“It is a real privilege for the community of Daysland to honour one of our volunteers,” said Ken Eshpeter of the Daysarts committee.
“What is possible because of volunteers in this community?” he asked.
“This hall; the arena; fitness club, which of course you will all be visiting to work off dinner; the Curling club, where the Farmer’s Bonspiel is currently taking place; the golf course; the theatre; the Fire Department, Ambulance, which started as a volunteer service; the Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation; cubs and scouts, and brownies and guides; 4-H; sports teams; service clubs; church groups; the Seniors club, the Trail and Town beautification committee; the list goes on and on.
