Killam’s 42nd Annual Indoor Rodeo kicked off on Friday, June 14 with 10 teams competing in the annual chili cook-off held in the Agriplex Multi-purpose Room, with wild flavours and costumes.

The team from Wild Rose Co-op Killam Food Store took home the hardware for first place, with mascot Cooper entertaining the little ones during the event.

Later, for the rodeo performance, the arena was full of fans that had come to watch the main attraction; some to cheer for the cowboys, some to cheer for the animals.

Two local cowboys had the fans cheering the loudest: current Lakeland Rodeo Association money leader Coy Robbins of Bawlf, who scored 71 points in his junior steer ride, and Killam native Jamie Moser, who with team roping partner Travis Nichel roped their calf in 9.4 seconds.

The evening’s bull riding saw the bulls win that, throwing all riders for a 12-0 record for the bulls.
