Baby brings in double New Year in Daysland

    Kristen Hauck-Elkow and Brad Elkow didn’t expect to have 2012’s New Year’s Baby, seeing as her due date was later in January, but circumstances turned in their favour in more than one way on Monday, Jan. 23 when Tannyn John Elkow decided to make his way into the world.

Lougheed School Council holds fundraiser for Virtual Learning Project

    On Jan. 21, the Lougheed School Council held a fundraiser dinner, trying to raise money to cover the cost of the computers the school will need to participate in Battle River’s Virtual Learning pilot project.

An Ipad was auctioned off in support of Evan Wallace, a local girl with a rare form of leukemia.

    Over 230 people came out in support of the school and enjoyed an authentic Mexican dinner prepared and served by Helena Krahn and family.

    Kimberley Bonnett volunteered her time and efforts during Killam’s Hockey Day to start up and man a booth where those interested in becoming a bone marrow or stem cell donor could sit down and fill out an application.
