Battle River-Wainwright MLA Wes Taylor gave a presentation to County Council on Wednesday, June 22 in order to provide Council with updates.

“It’s really an honour to be able to come here and meet everyone,” said Taylor.

“The past year has been very interesting.”

Taylor described his election on May 5, 2015, which marked his first term in the provincial government.

Candidate-Forum-GriffithsDoug Griffiths, MLA for Battle River-Wainwright, was moved from his post as Minister of Municipal Affairs to Minister of Service Alberta on Friday, as Premier Alison Redford announced what she termed, “A strengthened ministerial team that will drive the next phase of the Building Alberta Plan, while continuing to rebuild in the wake of the worst natural disaster in Alberta’s history.”

In the shuffle, one new ministry was formed, called Jobs, Skills, Training, and Labour, which will be run by former Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk.

Doug Griffiths wins Battle River-Wainwright in nail-biter, PCs regain resounding majority


In one of the most talked about elections in years, Premier Alison Redford and the Progressive Conservatives once again pulled ahead on Monday with a resounding majority victory, continuing their 41 year dynasty as the province’s governing party.

In an incredibly tight race, Battle River-Wainwright MLA and PC candidate Doug Griffiths retained his seat, just narrowing out Wildrose Party candidate Dave Nelson in the polls 47 per cent to 44 per cent. Nelson at one point actually led Griffiths, but could not maintain it.
