Jae Robbins Staff Reporter On Friday, Feb. 10, the Daysland Northstars advanced to the semi-finals in the BRHL with a 9-2 win over the Big Valley Oil Kings in game five of their best-of-seven in the opening round of playoffs.
Sedgewick Sabres took command early and were self-assurred by the strong goaltending of Jordy Cox, winning 5-2 and knocking out Tofield in six games.

Fans around Flagstaff County were treated to some great action as teams battled to earn the honour of being the 2011/2012 BRHL Champions.
Sedgewick Sabres took a 2-0 best-of-seven series lead in the opening round of the Battle River Hockey League playoffs against Tofield Satellites with a 6-5 OT win on Saturday in Tofield. Game three of the series is Wednesday in Sedgewick. More see the Feb. 6/12 issue of The Community Press.
Jae Robbins Staff Reporter The Hardisty Stampeders doubled up on the Provost Blades Saturday, Jan. 21 in a 16-8 win. This game was high scoring with tempers and emotions running hot.

Jae Robbins Staff Reporter All three local BRHL teams played this past weekend. The Hardisty Stampeders won both of their games, while the Sedgewick Sabres and the Daysland Northstars lost their games.
Leslie Cholowsky Editor Daysland Northstars hosted the Provost Blades on Saturday evening to a packed house. The Northstars started strong with four goals in the first period, to the Blades’ two, with Gregory Doll, Derek Wolbeck, Brad Trautman and Tyler Hurum all scoring.
Last Friday, Battle River Hockey League action saw the Sedgewick Sabres hosting the Irma Aces in what turned out to be a penalty-filled game with 282 penalty minutes handed out along with eight game misconducts. Sabres won 6-0.
Jae Robbins Staff Reporter The Daysland Northstars and the Hardisty Stampeders played Saturday in Hardisty in a game that would determine who would rise to the top of the standings in the Battle River Hockey League. Both teams were undefeated at the start of the game.
