Eric Anderson – Publisher
Eric officially began working at The Community Press in 2003 as a Student Reporter, although he says he grew up in the business long before then. As the son of long-time Publisher Kerry Anderson, Eric could sometimes be seen as a youngster running around the office, drawing his own newspapers by hand and photcopying just about anything he could get his hands on. In his teens, he’d take on summer odd jobs like cleaning and painting. In 2006, Eric became the Production Manager of the ‘Press and has been the chief paginator of every edition of the newspaper that has gone to print in the 19 years since. In 2009, Eric was named Publisher of The Community Press, becoming one of the youngest media publishers in the province, if not the entire country at that time. In the years since, his demand for maintaining quality, and not downsizing pages or coverage has been unrelenting. “I’ll never understand publishers who hack and slash their papers into these tiny pamphlets. If it looks like I don’t care about my own paper, why should anyone else? I want us to make something that readers want to read and advertisers want to support. Otherwise, what’s the point?”
Leslie Cholowsky – Editor
Leslie began working at The Community Press in 2009 as the Sales Manager. She was looking for a new challenge after over 20 years as an insurance specialist, where she played a major role in the impressive success and growth of a local insurance business within the region. An avid reader and learner, it didn’t take long before Leslie was wearing multiple hats within the business. In addition to customer service and sales calls, she soon helped to create ads, posters, promotional material, printing materials, and anything else that she could get her hands on. In 2011, an opening for the Editor position arose. Leaning on her past experience as a co-owner and editor of ‘Books Unbound’ an E-Book Publishing company in the early 2000s that was way ahead of its time, Leslie threw her name in the hat. In the 14 years since, she has been unwavering in her love and support of all things Flagstaff and works tirelessly as a champion for the citizens of Flagstaff and surrounding area. In addition to creating and purveying content for the weekly newspaper, Leslie also designs the majority of customer print jobs – either handling them personally in-office, or coordinating with our off-site print shop to return a high quality product to customers as quickly as possible.
