Flagstaff municipalities accept challenge for ‘Welcome’ funding
Back in June of 2016, Flagstaff County Council heard a request from Flagstaff Community Adult Learning (FCAL), given by Lois Polege and Nanette Jones, for funding to continue their Welcoming Community project.
Council voted to continue to fund the program, approving $50,000 of the $55,000 request, agreeing to match funding from any additional Flagstaff municipality up to another $5,000 total.
In a letter to FCAL, Sedgewick Chief Administrative Officer Amanda Davis said, “The Town of Sedgewick greatly believes in the Flagstaff Welcoming Community Project initiative operated by Flagstaff Community Adult Learning and funded by Flagstaff County.”
Killam CAO Kim Borgel added, “Thank you for your continued efforts with this very worthwhile project.”
With a total of $2,500 from the four municipalities, matched by Flagstaff County, another $5,000 out of a possible $10,000 will go to the project.
“I think it’s great, it’s a win-win for all Flagstaff communities.” says Polege. “We’re greatful for contributions from any municipality who is able.”
