Wild Rose Co-op Killam Food Store Manager Eric Heistad presented Killam Minor Hockey with $455 last week.

Heistad got an idea to hold an in-store silent auction on a framed and autographed Original Seven hockey print.

“The ATB used to do something similar,” Heistad says, “and I decided I would do the same to help out Minor Hockey.”

The bidding on the print didn’t take long to shoot over $400, and when Killam native Jerry Bible saw the print, he was determined to have it, and put in the winning bid of $455.

“I hope it can serve as an example,” Heistad says, “of another way to support local groups.”

Kimberley Bonnett accepted the funds from Heistad, saying, “This is very generous, and we really appreciate it!”

Bonnett says the group is currently hard at work planning Provincials, coming to Killam Mar. 20, for Pee Wee D.
