Tofield catches Northstars off guard; up 2-0 in series

The Battle River Hockey League finals are well under way with the 18-time champions Daysland Northstars and the Tofield Satellites, who are making their first ever appearance in the finals.

Game one took place in Daysland on Saturday, Mar. 16. The Satellites came out hungry with high energy and intensity, and on the second shot on net, scored, taking the early lead.

Less than a minute later, Northstar Colin Zimmer scored unassisted to even it up. One minute later, the Satellites took the lead and after three minutes of play the score was 2-1 for the visitors. The Satellites dominated the play in the first period out-shooting the North-stars and holding them from any real good chances on net.

This was a rough period with the hits and the penalties nonstop with the edge to Tofield who added another goal at the end of the first to make the score 3-1 after the first.

The second period was intense with both teams flying and tempers on edge. Tofield took a three point lead midway in the period.

Daysland answered back on a nice goal by Ryan Yuha, who was set up by Dayne Sorensen. The Northstars narrowed the gap to one on a goal by Colin Zimmer from Dean Petiot and Karson French.
