Hardisty fans go viral as they salute Jaromir Jagr in style
When six Hardisty men attended a Calgary Flames game on Feb. 13 against the Dallas Stars, they created a sensation that quickly travelled the world, as photos and videos spread through Twitter and blogs like wildfire.
Warren Thomson of Hardisty says that last year he, along with Tylor Keller and Josh Hood, attended an Edmonton Oilers game where they wore mullet wigs and jerseys as a tribute to National Hockey League legend Jaromir Jagr.
“We got Sportsnet’s ‘Fans of the Night’ for that,” Thomson said.
Fast forward a year, and add three participants, Trevor Freeman, Tyler Sim, and Chris Richter. The group all wore their black mullet wigs to the game last Wednesday, as each wore a different jersey representing every team the Czech winger has played for in his career. They even managed to find a Czech Republic national team uniform.
“One of the toughest things was getting six tickets in a row,” says Thomson, of the trip to Calgary.
