Strome Historian receives Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal
Ron Williams, of Strome, a charter member of the Central Alberta Historical Society, was honoured during the Edmonton Historical Society’s annual party Nov. 27 in Edmonton by receiving the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal, for his long time service to the society.
Williams has been involved in the Central Alberta Historical Society since its inception, and has also served on the Provincial Society Executive for two terms, and is still on the board as a Director at Large.
The Jubilee medal was presented by Historical Society President Tim Marriott; Senator Grant Mitchell was supposed to have presented the medal to Williams, but had to send his regrets.
Williams said Mitchell sent him a very nice letter, and also called him, congratulating him on the honour.
