Latest Camrose Police Service Report

On March 11th, 2023, the Camrose Police Service received a complaint of numerous bullets that were fired in the downtown area. Police were able to determine the bullets were fired towards a moving vehicle causing minor injury to the driver.

A local resident Jason Brian BARKMAN (52 years old) was charged and remanded into custody with numerous charges including attempted murder, assault with a weapon, discharging a fireman with intent, careless storage of firearms and unauthorized possession of a firearms.

A search warrant was executed on BARKMAN’s residence where police seized a large amount of ammunition, several firearms and illegal magazines.

On September 6, 2024, BARKMAN plead guilty and was sentenced to five years in custody on a lesser charge of aggravated assault. All of his firearms and ammunition was forfeited for destruction.


On September 4th, 2024, Katlin George KONKIN (35) appeared in Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and plead guilty to arson with disregard for human life in relation to an incident that occurred in Camrose, Alberta in December of 2023. KONKIN also plead guilty to previous charges of drug trafficking and was sentenced to a total of 5.5 years in custody.

On December 6, 2023, members of the Camrose Police Service were called to KONKIN’s residence in Camrose after he was threatening to burn down the family home. When Police arrived the house was on fire and they were able to help 5 victims to safety just prior to the house fully engulfing in flames.

A short time later KONKIN exited the burning home and he was arrested after a confrontation with Police.

The Camrose Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and all agencies worked together to keep everybody safe and to ensure the fire didn’t spread to other homes in the neighbourhood.
