Key Accounting Solutions

5016 50 Street Daysland, Alberta

Linda Simpson and Robyn Scobey have carved out a special place in the accounting world for the past seventeen years in Daysland, Alberta, operating Key Accounting Solutions as a division of Sema Holdings Inc.

They don’t just help clients with their business and personal tax but also help small businesses to operate and grow by supplying payroll, GST, bookkeeping, estate planning, succession planning, and business development services.

Before opening Key Accounting Solutions, Linda and Robyn did their homework to see if Daysland was the community they wanted to move into.
Robyn was starting her family; she thought Flagstaff County, especially Daysland, had everything she was looking for – a school, playgrounds, camping, a grocery store, a movie theatre, and most of the “big-city” amenities in rural Alberta while still being affordable.

This was the perfect setting for raising her children, so she moved from Grande Cache.

On the other hand, Linda had visited relatives and was drawn to the friendliness and smiles, golf course, curling rink, a hospital, and live entertainment, which made it the ideal community to relocate to with her husband, Brian.

Other amenities in Flagstaff County, such as the swimming pool in Killam and the bowling alley in Heisler, sealed the deal.

When they opened Key Accounting Solutions on the main street, they thought this would be a small part-time business.

The community support was so remarkable that they soon outgrew the small building, requiring them to move to their present location to accommodate the ten part-time and full-time staff they presently employ.

Key Accounting Solutions continues to grow and has an exciting announcement to share.

After much contemplation, Linda and Robyn decided to bring a new owner and successor to Key Accounting Solutions, Karim Bharwani CPA, CA. Karim shares the same accounting values as they do.

They conducted an extensive search, looking for an opportunity to enable continued growth and excellent succession planning.

Karim exceeded their hopes and will add value to the community. He will work with their local team, including Robyn and Linda, to ensure the continued excellent service.

Karim’s leadership will enhance the accounting, taxation, and succession planning and will add Review Engagement and Audits services.

Recent events have caused them to realize that a CPA designation was needed to assist many of their clients and community in the near future due to changing banking, taxation, and compliance regulations.

Linda is slowing down to focus on a personal writing project when she is not in the office.

Linda will focus on mentoring the team, working on projects, and assisting as needed.

Robyn and the rest of the team will continue to serve the community as they have.

Karim is looking forward to meeting everyone and integrating into his new community as soon as possible.

They plan to host an event in the spring to celebrate when the weather is more reliable.

Karim Bharwani, CPA.CA, has been practicing since 2004 with international experience in India, where he earned his CA designation.

Upon his arrival in Canada, he began his career as a financial analyst in the energy industry in Calgary. Prior to launching Versatile Accounting in 2016, he supported public accounting clients and enjoyed a stint with BDO Canada.

Robyn and Linda are grateful to have had the chance to serve you and our community over the past seventeen years.

“Thank you for your loyal support.”
