Emerson Drive to headline June concert in Sedgewick

After two years of false starts and stops with the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the Town of Sedgewick made a welcome announcement on Wednesday, March 30.

Their concert series is resuming, with county band Emerson Drive, set to hit the Wild Rose Co-op Recreation Centre on Friday, June 3.

“Upon bursting onto the North American music scene in 2001, the band enjoyed great success out of the gate with their first two singles: ‘I Should Be Sleeping,’ and “Fall into Me.”

Both hit the top five on the Billboard Country charts and quickly became fan favourites.

Over the next two years, the band played upwards of 300 shows a year, also winning a number of awards, until releasing a career-changing hit with ‘Moments’ from their album ‘Countrified.’

‘Countrified’ brought the band both Juno and Academy of Country Music Award nominations. The ‘Moments’ video won CMT Video of the Year, and at the Canadian Country Music Awards, won Single of the Year, with the band taking home the Group of the Year. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award under Best Country Performance by a duo or group.

Their followup album, Believe, also garnered them a Juno nomination for Country Album of the Year, and the band a Canadian Country Music Association award nomination for Group of the Year.

Most recently, Emerson Drive released the single ‘Just Got Paid,’ which peaked at the number 10 spot on the Billboard Canada Country chart in 2017, and released a new album in 2019.

Opening for Emerson Drive will be Sweet Tequila. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Town office, both Sedgewick and Killam Wild Rose Co-op Food Stores, and on ticketmaster.ca.
