Syd Walker 4-H Walker pioneer in Flagstaff 4-H

This is a tribute to Syd Walker – the first beef leader in Flagstaff County. Syd, along with Ken Gibb, Frank Wilson, and Dave Anderson started the Killam 4-H Beef Club in 1946.

He passed away on Feb. 20, 1984. Walker was a member of the IOOF Lodge from 1914, a charter member of the Killam Co-op, and a member of the Hereford Association since 1940.

His wife, Helen, passed away in August of 1955 after a lengthy illness. They had one son, Len.

“He made his home with us,” said Mrs. Phyllis Lawson.
