Coronation RCMP Charge Male for Arson to Police Vehicle and Damage to Other Property
In the early morning hours of July 3, emergency crews responded to a fire behind the Coronation RCMP Detachment.
Two police vehicles were on fire, with one of the vehicles fully engulfed.
The investigation determined the fires had been deliberately set. A male suspect was located in the area and was arrested for arson.
He was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries due to the alleged incident.
He was released from hospital and held in RCMP custody for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.
Damyen Rocque, 21 years, of Coronation, Alta., has been charged with:
- Arson – three counts;
- Mischief over $5000 – two counts; and
- Mischief under $5000 – ten counts (for vandalism to various properties in town).
Rocque was remanded into custody and his next Court appearance has been set for July 9, 2021, in Coronation Provincial Court.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be laid.
