Hardisty joins Hughenden, Amisk, Czar, and Provost Departments in huge fire raging on east side of Flagstaff County

There are three homeowners in the Hughenden/Amisk area that owe their thanks to the firefighters from five departments for saving their homes from a brush fire that threatened dwellings Wednes-day, and burned surrounding outbuildings.

Brian Cooper, Hughenden Fire Chief, assumed incident command of the grass fire, burning east of Amisk.

Amisk department originally responded, and called Hughenden and Czar, they were eventually joined by Provost and Hardisty.

Cooper said the fire was started in a brush pile, at the time the fire started there was not a fire ban in the MD of Provost.

Cooper said as the fire approached three residences. Fire departments from Amisk and Hardisty protected one residence, while Hugh-enden protected another, and Provost and Czar departments worked in between Hughenden’s post and the third residence.
