Province now accepting applications for Alberta’s Teacher Advisory Council

By Ethan Neufeld, Staff Reporter

Alberta’s education system has announced a new Teacher Advisory Council for teachers all across Alberta.

The Province says this council was put in place to ensure the experience and expertise of Alberta teachers, guiding children towards bright and successful futures.

The Teacher Advisory Council will bring together 15 teachers with different roles, communities, and settings to share their insight towards the education system, providing never-seen-before perspective, straight to the Minister of Education and Childcare.

Teachers and principals interested in applying for the council can apply online. The deadline for applications is Feb. 13. Members of the council are appointed by the minister of Education and Childcare. (More info on the role and how to apply can be found at: http://tiny.cc/in3z001).

“Teachers understand the realities of today’s classrooms. Their expertise is essential to addressing class size and classroom complexity,” says Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education and Childcare.

“The Teacher Advisory Council ensures teachers have a direct voice as we work together to strengthen education for Alberta students.”
