RCMP warn of extremely poor road conditions as of Tuesday evening

As of Tuesday, January 21 at 7 p.m., RCMP in central and northern Alberta are advising that road conditions are extremely bad, specifically in Leduc, Wetaskiwin, Camrose County, Maskwacis, Ponoka and areas around Edmonton.

RCMP is reporting white out conditions with severe wind and blowing snow. Visibility is extremely poor in many locations.

RCMP are actively responding to multiple collisions and reports of vehicle rollovers along Highway 2 between Red Deer and Leduc as a result of these weather conditions. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

A blowing snow advisory was issued this afternoon by Environment Canada for this region of Alberta.

Check the Alberta 511 website and app for road updates as road crews are expected to work through the night to improve driving conditions.
