Maskwacis RCMP lay attempted murder charges after shooting on Louis Bull First Nation
On August 7, 2024, Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a shooting that occurred in front of a residence on Louis Bull First Nation. Upon arrival, emergency workers tended to a 15-year-old victim who suffered gunshot wounds. The victim was flown to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. A second victim, who was hit by a car and had minor injuries, was treated and later release.
Thanks to cooperation from the public a suspect was identified. On August 8, 2024, Maskwacis RCMP with help from the Strathcona RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a Sherwood Park hotel room and successfully arrested the suspect. During the arrest, a loaded semi-automatic rifle was located.
Kashton Fearious Bull (24), has been charged with:
- Attempted murder;
- Possession of a firearm contrary to order;
- Weapons offences (x4).
Bull has been taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Aug. 22, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
“We are thankful to the members of the public who came forward and provided crucial information that allowed us to quickly identify and locate this suspect,” says Staff Sergeant Richard Mckay of the Maskwacis RCMP, “bravely working together is the only way we can put an end to senseless violence.”
