Camrose Police Report
From the period of July 29 to August 1
BVJ
During routine patrols near the Coors Banquet area, police stopped an intoxicated male who was refusing to provide his name. The individual was arrested for public intoxication. During a search incidental to his arrest, police located his ID in his wallet. The 33-year-old male had his wristband cut and was transported to cells to remain until sober.
Police were also requested to assist in the Coors Banquet area with a 26-year-old male who was grossly intoxicated and uncooperative with security. Officers attended the scene and cut the male’s wristband. He was then transported back to his campsite by security staff.
During routine patrols in the BVJ Campground, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle. All four occupants exited the vehicle and fled the scene. The investigation identified the driver, a 20-year-old male. He was located and found to be intoxicated. A roadside breath sample resulted in a fail. The male was charged with impaired driving, issued a license suspension, and his vehicle was seized for 30 days.
Shoplifting
The Police received a report from a west-end business about a male who stole an item and left the store. Patrols made and the police were unable to locate the male but will review surveillance footage to attempt to identify him.
Possession of Property
During routine patrol, police found a parked vehicle with a stolen license plate. A 28-year-old male was found in the vehicle and was issued violation tickets for misuse of a license plate and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. A 19-year-old female was arrested on warrants from Edmonton Police and charged with possession of methamphetamine. She was released on an appearance notice.
Mischief – Damage to property
A downtown business reported that their back-gate lock was cut and there was graffiti sprayed on the back wall. The Police attended and obtained statements, and the incident is under investigation.
Break and Enter
An east-end business was broken into, and a dirt bike was stolen. Police attended the scene, took statements, and are currently investigating the incident.
Shoplifting
A west-end business reported that a 29-year-old female was caught shoplifting. Police located the individual and issued her a 5-year trespass notice.
Mischief – Damage to Property
A downtown resident reported witnessing two individuals tampering with a truck. The witness managed to take pictures of the suspects, and one of them has been identified. The incident is currently under investigation.
