Senior arrested for shooting trespasser on property near St. Albert
On June 29, 2024, RCMP received a report of a youth who had been shot at a rural property on range road 255 near St. Albert.
Investigation has revealed that two youth were on the property when they were confronted by an individual armed with a firearm who then shot one of the youths.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged Sturgeon County resident, Jim Bregin (84), with:
- Aggravated assault;
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence;
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Intentional reckless discharge of a firearm.
Bregin was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for July 4, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Morinville.
