Daysland’s Martha Hayworth celebrates 105th birthday

Martha Hayworth enjoyed an afternoon with family and friends at Providence Place in Daysland to mark her 105th birthday.

She was born seven months before Word War I ended, and a month after she was born, Canadian women, excluding Quebec, were given the right to vote in federal elections.

That June, the Spanish Flu became pandemic.

Over 30 million people worldwide would die over the next six months.

Martha has seen five monarchs during her lifespan, and the end of both World Wars.

She lived through two worldwide pandemics, and has seen many changes in daily life over her 105 years.

We wish her the very best on this auspicious occasion.
