ASHCOR Technologies Ltd. is a subsidiary of ATCO and the largest independent marketed of fly ash in Western Canada. ASHCOR is building a dynamic team to operate its newly constructed reclaimed ash management facility at Battle River, Alberta.

We are looking for a Site Superintendent to join us in the exciting work we do in ASHCOR Technologies. Reporting to the Plant Manager, it’ll be your responsibility to manage and coordinate plant operations daily. In this position, you also get to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of all equipment in the plant and ensure the facility production rate meets the business plan.

What You Get To Do:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant, including routine and major maintenance activities such as annual work and turnarounds.
  • Responsible for the success of regular operational duties, including processing facility operations, quality control and testing, wheel loader operations, and highway dry bulk carrier loadout operations.
  • Responsible for scheduling appropriate shift staffing levels to meet the requirements of the facility.
  • Act as liaison between the crew and the Plant Manager and ensure that the crew is aware of and understands the facility business plans.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reporting on plant operations.
  • Provide financial and technical justification for operating costs.
  • Implement new programs and identify strategies for plant, procedure and program improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and solve operational challenges in collaboration with the operations team including management, and sometimes involving familiarity with control systems and electrical systems.
  • Repair and make modifications to plant equipment.
  • Collaborate and maintain good communications with contractors and raw material suppliers.
  • Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies.
  • Develop, support and actively participate in health, safety, environmental and financial improvement programs.
  • Provide leadership and develop employees to optimize their performance, including goal setting, facilitating development plans, reviewing performance, coaching, mentoring and providing feedback.

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant industry experience
  • Significant knowledge of the operations and maintenance of an industrial facility is required
  • Experience as an operator of an industrial facility is an asset
  • Experience with mechanical equipment: rotating equipment, conveyors, repair of wear components, silos, lubrication schedules, is required
  • Experience with electrical equipment and controls is an asset
  • Experience with heavy equipment and loadout operations is an asset
  • Experience operating a wheel loader is an asset
  • Proven competency in health, safety and environmental systems management
  • Good communication skills with knowledge of MS office applications
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement activities successfully with a high level of personal initiative and motivation
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, able to motivate a diverse work group, resolve conflict, adapt to change and develop creative and innovative ways to resolve issues
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

This role is part of a rotating schedule primarily consisting of day shifts.
