ASHCOR Technologies Ltd. is a subsidiary of ATCO and the largest independent marketer of fly ash in Western Canada. ASHCOR is building a dynamic team to support operations of its newly constructed reclaimed ash management facility near Forestburg, Alberta.
DESCRIPTION:
Under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager, the Facility Technician is responsible for assisting with facility operations and maintenance. They will practice short and long term safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of all equipment in the plant. They will be required to work rotating 12hr shifts in a two-crew rotation (ramping up to four-crew rotation in the future).
The successful candidate will work out of the Battle River facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform regular operational duties, including:
- Running processing equipment from the control system to maintain established product quality and production rates
- Complete routine field checks/rounds of processing equipment and maintain housekeeping to established standards
- Silo top loading of highway bulk carriers to within legal weight targets following established procedures. Clear concise communication with transport drivers using appropriate radio protocol with transport drivers.
- Mobile equipment operations of articulating wheeled loader, telehandler/forklift and aerial working platforms.
- Conduct established routine preventative maintenance and support major maintenance activities including annual work and turnarounds, entering data into the facility CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Assist the Shift Supervisor/team with troubleshooting, solving operational challenges and participating in process optimization.
- Collaborate and maintain good communications with contractors and feedstock supplier
- Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies
- Actively participate and be engaged in health, safety, environmental and financial improvement programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2-3 years relevant industry and/or farm experience
- Some experience with mechanical equipment is required, such as: large mobile equipment, farm equipment, conveyors, silos, lubrication schedules
- Experience operating mobile equipment is an asset
- Experience working around industrial equipment is an asset
- Demonstrated safety mindset
- Willingness to perform work at height with appropriate fall arrest equipment is a requirement
- Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of an array of industrial equipment is required
- Ability to organize and execute activities successfully with a high level of personal initiative and motivation
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, resolve conflict, adapt to change and develop creative and innovative ways to resolve issues
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Able to work outside in all season weather conditions with the ability to navigate stairs, ladders and platforms on a routine basis
