RCMP Report: Batteries and copper wire stolen at abandoned oil sites

The Killam RCMP Detachment members dealt with 90 occurrences between Wednesday, Jan. 20, and Tuesday, Feb. 2.

On Jan. 23, a 34-year-old male from Sedgewick was charged for Failing to comply with probation on two counts. A warrant of arrest has been applied for.

On Jan. 28, a 28-year-old male from Bawlf was charged with Failing to attend court. A warrant of arrest has been applied for.

On Jan. 30, a 33-year-old male from Sedgewick was charged with Failing to comply with release conditions on three counts. A warrant for arrest has been applied for.

On Jan. 31, a 38-year-old female from Killam was charged with Failing to comply with probation. She was remanded into custody awaiting her court date.

On Feb. 1, a 49-year-old male from Newell County was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. Court is scheduled for March 2.

RCMP received six 911 hang-ups during this period, all were required to be cleared by Killam members.

Four abandoned motor vehicles were reported, all deemed non-criminal.

Members responded to one animal call.

Police received a complaint of Assault, later determined to be unfounded. No criminal assault occurred.

Killam members provided assistance in five occurrences to another Police service, and one case of assistance to the general public.

A complaint of Breach of Release Order is still being investigated.

Killam RCMP responded to seven complaints of break and enter to businesses or other, all related to abandoned oilfield thefts. Batteries and copper wire were stolen. This is an ongoing investigation.
