RCMP Report: Police lay criminal charges against three individuals after break in
Between Dec. 20 and Thursday, Jan. 4, the Killam RCMP Detachment dealt with 96 occurrences.
On Wednesday, Dec. 23, RCMP laid criminal charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and arrested a 34-year-old male after Killam RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious person on Secondary Highway 53. The male in question was located and arrested on several outstanding warrants. The male was also linked to a stolen vehicle and charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Court appearance scheduled for Jan. 25 in Killam.
On Sunday, Dec. 27, criminal charges of Mischief were laid against a 36-year-old male from Sedgewick. He was arrested and charged after Killam RCMP received a complaint of a suspect causing a disturbance and starting a fire on a driveway.
On Monday, Dec. 28, criminal charges were laid against three people in connection with the Break and Enter to a business after a Harvest Operations lease site had been broken into.
Sheldon Starling (41 yrs) from Sherwood Park has been charged with;
-Break and Enter with intent (Business); and
-Five Provincial Violations.
Dallas Vaudrin (42 yrs) from Killam has been charged with;
-Break and Enter with intent (Business);
– Possession of Break in Instruments;
-Obstruct Police; and
-Trespass.
Steven Driscoll (51 yrs) from Edmonton has been charged with;
-Break and Enter with intent (Business); and
-Trespassing.
Other calls that Detachment members responded to include four 911 hangups, which must be cleared by members, four abandoned motor vehicles (non-criminal), an animal complaint regarding an injured moose, four false alarms, and providing assistance to Fish and Wildlife putting down an injured deer.
Police responded to one complaint of assault, where Killam RCMP members attended and deescalated the situation. No charges were laid.
Killam members executed Outstanding Warrant on behalf of the Edmonton Police Service.
The detachment had six requests for assistance from the general public.
RCMP responded to a complaint of a person being unlawfully in a dwelling; the complainant declined to press charges.
Police responded to a complaint of Breach of Peace where Killam RCMP attended and deescalated the situation. No charges were laid.
During this period, there were five complaints of break and enter to business.
Two suspects broke into a business in Forestburg. Surveillance observed showed a Dodge pickup truck on the property with two suspects.
The Village of Heisler Public Works building was broken into and had a fuel pump stolen off of a vehicle.
