From the Archives (1915): Section Man from Bawlf Suffers Painful Injuries

Originally Published December 31, 1915 – With half his body badly burned, as a result of pouring coal oil in the stove to start a fire, Mike Drosdi, a CPR section man from Bawlf, was brought to the Strathcona Hospital yesterday morning.

The fire was about out, but when he poured the oil on the coal it caught fire suddenly, the oil can exploding, and his clothes caught fire. It was with difficulty that the fire was extinguished and his house saved.

He was brought to Edmonton on the Hardisty local and is now quite cheerful, for his condition, though serious, is good under the circumstances.

He has a wife and two children, and while still in a precarious condition, there are hopes of his recovery.

He is under the care of Dr. Archibald, the CPR surgeon.
