Sedgewick bringing a full night of ROCK in October

The Town of Sedgewick will return to rock this Oct. 19 when they host a trio of legendary bands best known for their work in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Honeymoon Suite, Canada’s most iconic rock band, will share Campbell-McLennan Chrysler Stage with metal queen, Lee Aaron and classic rock pioneers Prism to form what will be the longest and loudest show to take place in the Wild Rose Co-op Recreation Centre to date.

Prism, known nation-wide as a must-see live attraction, has sold millions of albums which have included such standards as ‘Take Me to the Kaptin’, ‘Flying’, ‘Armageddon’, ‘Take Me Away’, and ‘Spaceship Superstar’ which NASA chose as the official song aboard Space Shuttle Discovery’s historic final flight.

The band has two Juno awards to its credit along with a continuing legacy of sold-out shows across the country.

Lee Aaron is an award-winning singer, musician, and songwriter who has reinvented herself many times over her long career. Singing professionally since she was only 15, Aaron struck her first big hit with ‘Metal Queen’ and later went on to record her best-selling album ‘Bodyrock’ in 1989.

The release led her to being nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at the Junos as well as Best Video for her smash hit ‘Whatcha Do to My Body’.

Honeymoon Suite formed in 1982 and was quickly signed after writing their long-standing hit ‘New Girl Now’. Through the 80s the group continued to pump out rock anthems such as ‘Stay in the Light’, ‘Wave Babies’, ‘Feel it Again’, ‘Bad Attitude’ and ‘Love Changes Everything’.

Over their illustrious career the band has performed with the likes of Billy Idol, April Wine, Bryan Adams, Jethro Tull, ZZ Top, Journey, and Starship.

The full roster is a bet that by packing three big acts into a single evening it will propel the event to surpass the success of recent concerts, which in April featured country music legend Clay Walker.

“As a way to celebrate our first three successful shows, we decided to squeeze three more shows into one night,” says Sedgewick Mayor Perry Robinson. “We’ve focused on touching on different genres and after two country concerts it was time to shift gears again and bring back some rock.

“We have had requests from a number of our corporate sponsors to return to rock. This event should have something in it that will please everybody.”

The show is slated for Saturday, Oct. 19, with the first band hitting the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and are expected to sell fast.
