Wheat Kings sit atop the league heading into weekend action

Two big wins for the Wheaties last weekend have brought them to the top of the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League leaderboard.

The Wheat Kings played in Killam on Friday, Oct. 19, against the St. Paul Canadiens.

They won the high-scoring game 6-5 after three-and-a-half minutes of gruelling overtime.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Wheat Kings faced off against the Cold Lake Ice in Cold Lake. Their 4-1 victory on the road was a great way to end the weekend.

Killam overtook the Wainwright Bisons for first place in the league over the weekend and fans can only hope that position can be maintained throughout the season.

The Wheat Kings play next Saturday, Oct. 27 in Vermilion, returning home Friday, Nov. 2, against the Wainwright Bisons, sure to be a great game.
