The Killam RCMP Detachment has a new Sergeant, as Colin Molinski has arrived and started work.

Molinski is a veteran RCMP member, having worked in every corner of Canada prior to coming to Killam.

“My nickname is Suitcase,” he says, because he’s moved so many times. He’s transferred a lot, on purpose, and says he’s blessed to have the understanding from his wife and children.

Molinski was raised in a rural area outside Winnipeg, growing up as a farm kid on a mixed beef and grain operation. “Yes, I can operate a tractor and combine.”

He says he knew from a very young age that he wanted to join the RCMP. “I knew I wanted to see the country, and serve the people.”

After obtaining his degree in Kinesiology, with a minor in Criminology at the University of Manitoba, Molinski applied to the RCMP. “Back then it was a more difficult process to get into the RCMP.”

In the meantime, he took a job at a youth treatment centre, a position he describes as “challenging, yet very rewarding.” He enjoyed working with youth very much, and says the position cemented his desire to join the force.
