Flagstaff County holds second Country Roots Tour
On Friday, Aug. 23, a group of tourists hit the streets of Heisler and Alliance as part of the second Flagstaff County Country Roots Tour.
Once they reached their destination of Alliance, the group was split into two.
While one group toured through the Alliance Seed Cleaning Plant and witnessed the process of cleaning rye, the other group explored the village.
Both groups were able to experience all that Alliance has to offer before reconvening for a lunch catered by the Alliance Valley Inn.
In the afternoon, both groups headed to the Southbend Hutterite Colony. There, they learned all about the history of the Colony, as well as current operations.
At 4 p.m., the group got back on the train and journeyed back to Heisler, where Main Street had been transformed into an outdoor cafe, with two long tables for supper.
The group was invited to explore the village, as Main Street businesses were open.
Inside the hall, there was a market with six local vendors.
Brent Hoyland acted as master of ceremonies for the supper portion of the evening.
Flagstaff County Reeve Gerald Kuefler brought greetings from the County.
