Auxilians celebrate 85th year of service at Killam Hospital
The Killam Hospital Ladies Auxiliary celebrated their 85th anniversary officially on Wednesday, March 16 at the Killam Senior’s Centre with a bake sale and come-and-go strawberry shortcake tea.
Patty Schulte, Recreation Director for the Killam Long Term Care served as emcee, and congratulated the auxilians on their 85th year of service.
She gave special mention of Mrs. Bessie Schnettler, who has been serving for 50 years.
Schulte asked Killam Mayor Bud James to say a few words.
James told the ladies, “After 85 years, you really know how to throw a party!
“Greetings and a hearty thank you from the Town of Killam.”
James congratulated the group on celebrating a remarkable milestone, and told them that Killam’s motto, Life without
Compromise, relies upon volunteers like the Ladies Auxiliary.
The ladies had delivered about 150 shortcakes that day, to people unable to attend in person.
Clara Lewis said days earlier an online bake sale had also been held, and she thanked those who donated as well as Reena Kelndorfer for setting it up.
