Flyers take loss at home against Hughenden Jets
On Friday, Nov. 13, the Forestburg Flyers took on the Hughenden Jets on home ice in East Central Senior Hockey League action.
The game was tight, with a final score of 4-3 for the Jets.
The first period saw several shots on each goal, but all attempts were stopped before any goals were scored.
The first successful goal of the evening for the Flyers took place at 1:41 in the second period, and was scored by Colin Weller. Justin Zimmer and Nick McNabb assisted.
The Flyers came back as Mat Ponto scored at 13:01, assisted by Bryan Frizzell and McNabb.
Only six seconds into the next play, Nicholas Laporte scored an unassisted goal for the Jets.
Hughenden took the lead at 17:13 with a goal by Clay Almberg, assisted by Sather and Laporte.
With only 2:49 left in the second period, Flyer Ben Curtis scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway.
After the action-packed second period, the third began tied at three.
Hughenden pulled their goalie for a very brief span about eight minutes in, but he was back in position before either team had the opportunity to score.
At 8:45, the Jets pulled ahead with a second goal by Morrison, with Sather and Laporte each picking up another assist.
The Flyers pulled their goalie with just under two minutes left in the game, but they were unable to regain the lead, and lost by one goal.
