Galahad votes for dissolution of village
The public vote on the future viability of Galahad was held on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Residents were able to cast their vote at the Agriplex from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Fifty turned out to have their say in the future of the village.
Out of the 50 votes counted, 49 were cast in favour of the dissolution of Galahad into a hamlet in Flagstaff County.
Only one vote was received in favour of Galahad remaining a village.
Following the vote, the Minister of Municipal Affairs must recommend dissolution to the Lieutenant Governor in council, and they will make the final decision.
It may take up to six weeks for the decision to be announced, but the expected date of dissolution at this time is Jan. 1, 2016.
