Alliance CAO announces plans to retire
Laura Towers, who has been the CAO of the village of Alliance for the past 15 years, has advised Council that this will be her last year, letting them know of her intention to retire by July 2015.
It is her intention to help Council find a replacement, and the village is currently looking for an assistant CAO, with the hopes that whomever they hire will eventually step into Towers’ shoes.
“I didn’t want to leave a new person in the lurch by giving short notice,” Towers says. Neither did she want the village to have difficulties in finding her replacement.
She says it shouldn’t have come as a surprise, she’s been talking about it for years, and decided now was the time.
“I have no shortage of things that I would like to start doing on my terms, like gardening, reading, and quilting,” she says.
Towers has no plans to leave the community, and says she’s still planning on being an active volunteer.
She even has some plans for a new project she’s thinking she might enjoy, involving the museum.
Towers is hopeful that the right person will step forward, the village is running advertisements hoping to attract some applicants soon.
